I must confess: I'm fully addicted to the good/bad (or is it bad/good) movies SciFi shows all weekend long, especailly those of their own design. My Saturday is not complete without a couple of hours watching either a giant CG snake or, failing that, Stephen Baldwin, terrorize a group of hot, young, telegenic b-actors. I think Roger Corman's recent "Supergator" epitomizes all the aspects I love. Anyone else?
And while we're at it, does anyone still hear that horrific, high-pitched "He's HERE!!!" from "Mansquito" in all their quiet moments? Maybe it's just me.

Re: Made for SciFi Channel movies
Thu, August 9, 2007 - 11:50 AMNo I'm with you on this one. It reminds me of Saturday nights at the drive-in. All those bad B grade scifi movies of the late 50's and 60's. Long live the bad scifi movie. These new movies do justice the old ones. They stand upon the shoulders of such great movies as Attack of the Killer Tomatoes and the one and only Plan 9 from Outer Space. Long may they live!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -

Re: Made for SciFi Channel movies
Fri, August 10, 2007 - 3:06 PMThat's what I'm TALKING about! Yeah, it's like Creature Features, or Mystery Science without the 'bots. I think the word's funnest job would be to pen those scripts: "OK, at this point, Stephen Baldwin grabs the supermodel's bikini top and uses it to fend off the Velociraptor's tentacles - yeah, that's right, I'm putting tentacles on my Velociraptor! You have a problem with that?!" Hell, I'd do it for free...

Re: Made for SciFi Channel movies
Tue, November 6, 2007 - 10:47 AMAbsolutely NOT!
I am and coninue to be VERY disappointed and disatisfied with the way Sci Fi Channel is run by the "Higher Up's"!!
The Sci Fi Channel is owned by a Major Studio and has been for sometime now. This organization needs to stop treating the Sci Fi Channel the way an Evil Step Mother treats a child from a second or third or fourth marriage!!!!
I have posted this discussion in the past but it was a while ago
The Sci Fi Channel needs to pump decent money into Movies the Sci Fi Fans care about and instead of treating us to third-rate garbage CGI effects...how about ustiliing a Special Effects Studio that actually CARES how the effects look...background as well as creatures? I know there are companies out there that are "hungry" to make a name for themselves (anyone remember a little company back in the mid-seventies that started out basically in a "basement" called ILM? They were hungry to prove themselves!)
How about if you are actually going to go Retro and show really bad schlocky movies? You create a TV show that falls under really campy badly made movies and show them during a time frame when it is geared towards the die-hard campy-schlocky movie fans? (No offense to those who are fans of said movies and shows!)
How about actually creating TV Shows, Mini-Series and Movies that the Fans can really appreciate and say "Wow Man!!! The Sci Fi Channel is The Shit!!!"
It is SO fucking frustrating that this Network creates good series like "Battlestar Galactica", "Eureka" , "Ghost Hunters" and "The Dune Mini-Series" (To name a few) only to show such other crap like "Stargate", "Stargate: Atlantis", "Lexx" etc, etc.....AND to add insult to injury? Wrestling in shown on Tuesday nights!!!
Someone PLEASE take over the Programming Department at the Sci Fi Channel!!!
Right the Horrible Wrongs and Disrespect to us the Sci-Fi/Fantasy Fans and get your collective Network Programming Act together!! Make US the Sci Fi Fans happy!!
Ok
I will now step off of my Tribe Soapbox now

Re: Made for SciFi Channel movies
Thu, December 13, 2007 - 9:14 PMWith the exception of ghost hunters and any crap even remotely like it , I agree with the rest of what you said . Hardcore , serious , A -list Sci-Fi has always suffered in the shadow of trite and brainles B-list movie puke . If you should even happen to find anything promising someones sure to sacrifice the significant tid-bits on the alter of cultural idiocy . Oh and The moment I saw wrestling on Sci-Fi channel I knew the end of intelligent broadcasting was near , drowning in a sea of body parts from near illiterate actors freshly dismembered by whatever ill conceived scenario of the week was randomly chosen by the god public opinion polls . ! : (

Re: Made for SciFi Channel movies
Tue, November 6, 2007 - 10:59 AMThere is too much access to good movies to waste time with bad ones. Get Netflix, Blockbuster, or go to the library and kick the made for tv movie habit.
